Is the app secure?
Yes, the app is secure. To connect financial data we use Plaid, a software solution that allows us to connect to banking and financial accounts and also do a handful of useful features that involve data and finances. The app is used in many consumer fintech apps that people use including Venmo, Chime, Acorns, Betterment, and more. You can learn more about Plaid here.
What will you do with my data?
Use it to build a better app and user experience. At this stage of the product, the data we receive and view is mainly app analytics that give us information about how long things take, how long you're in the app, what you're doing, and when you encounter bugs. We also have your email addresses and answers to your onboarding in the app. We are working with our attorneys on a new policy, but right now we adhere to Plaid's end-user agreement.
How does Boost work?
Boost is a money management app that helps you see your entire financial picture and make better career/financial decisions without having to transfer any money within or across your financial accounts. We are NOT a banking app; we do not handle, move, or manage your money at all. We only look at your accounts and use our smart technology to show you your money in a new and useful way.
Who is this for?
The app is for people who have multiple side hustles. We don't love the term side hustle and think we're targeting users who identify as independents or are attracted to the idea of making money on their own terms, often doing what they love.
How do I submit new feature ideas for the app?
In this community there is a space called "Boost Buildout." You can drop ideas there, but please provide an explanation or link to describe what you're referring to.
How will we know when there will be a change or update to the app?
We will let you know in the "Boost Buildout" space. We will also notify you in our newsletter of any changes or updates.
Can I also compare my side hustles with my 9-5 or full time job?
Of course. We recognize that while pursuing your passion full time is an amazing thing, some may not be able to ditch the 9-5 life ( and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that.) That’s why we made sure you could calculate one of your income streams as a 9-5 or part time job.
Can I use this app if I’m a beginner?
If you are a beginner freelancer or side hustler you most definitely can use the app. The home screen is populated with your data from the last year. If you do not have any income to enter, once you start making money feel free to update the data and your income will show up. It’ll be fun to watch how it grows overtime.
What is the mission of Boost?
This is constantly a work in progress. But, I can say that we care deeply that people are able to do what love and earn money on their own terms. Ultimately, we want people to live their best lives.
What are the values that represent the Boost brand?
Who came up with the idea for Boost?
Nicole (our founder) came up with it. She was able to grow a side hustle of hers into a one-person business doing about half a million dollars a year. She knew how to make money, but really struggled with the financial and operational aspects of running a business. So, she wanted to start building to help people better manage their business finances, predict future income, and invest to meet personal and meaningful goals.
